Numerical Investigation and Design of Reinforced Concrete Shear Wall Equipped with Tuned Liquid Multiple Columns Dampers

The tuned liquid multiple column damper (TLMCD) is a variation of the (TLCD) that includes vertical columns. A new damping system embeds TLMCDs within reinforced concrete shear wall systems, termed (TLWD), proposed, augmenting traditional structural component with energy dissipation capabilities. objective this study to assess mitigation and strength trade-offs in designing TLWDs demonstrating promise TLWD systems tall buildings through vertically distributed applications. This done by investigating performance proposed finite element model (FEM) simplified representation 42-story building equipped multifunctional component. for developed empower faster evaluation on more complex models. Results from FEM are used validate show could be conservatively assessing performance. Design considerations discussed based representation. In particular, improve while maintaining strength, it found single-layer arrangement columns preferred, distributing inertia among higher number smaller numerically evaluated realistic consisting multi-degrees-of-freedom under stochastic wind excitation.
